Hero Ingredient: Tallow

Tallow’s remarkable effectiveness comes down to two main factors. Firstly, it’s naturally high in skin-loving vitamins and omega fatty acids that deeply hydrate and nourish the skin. Secondly, tallow's biocompatibility with skin allows for easy absorption of these nutrients. What many don't realise is that it is the OG skincare, dating back thousands of years and used by ancient civilisations including the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, and the Chinese.
Before the introduction of petrochemicals this was what we had. And it works.

Tallow is nutrient-dense and rich in skin-living vitamins, including:

Vitamin A for cell renewal and collagen support

Vitamin E for antioxidant protection

Vitamin D for skin immunity

Vitamin K for even skin tone

Conjugated Linoleic Acid for inflammation support and deep hydration

Tallow doesn’t just moisturise - it provides nutrients your skin recognises and knows how to use, supporting its natural processes from within. This biocompatibility helps maintain your skin’s moisture barrier, boost collagen production, even skin tone, and preserve elasticity.

Quality

Not all tallow is created equal. We use locally-sourced organic grass-fed tallow, specifically from the suet, which is the prized fat that surrounds the loins and kidneys of cattle.

Suet is the highest quality tallow skincare. This prized fat has distinct advantages over other fats: it’s the purest, cleanest form with the highest concentration of nutrients beneficial for skin health. The location of this fat – protecting vital organs – means it contains more bioavailable vitamins A, D, E, and K, along with higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid. Its molecular structure is also remarkably similar to human skin cells, making it more readily absorbed and utilised by our skin. 

What makes this tallow even more exceptional is its stability – it has a much longer shelf life and is more resistant to oxidation compared to other fats, which can quickly go rancid. The natural preservation quality means your skincare remains potent and effective for longer without the need for artificial preservatives.

Additionally, the suet has a cleaner, milder scent compared to other fats and produces a smoother, more consistent final product. When rendered, it creates a tallow that’s softer and more easily absorbed. 

It’s so important to make sure your tallow is produced from suet, this specific fat found around the kidneys. Mass-produced tallow often comes from fats found all over the cow, and while this is cheaper for them to produce, you end up paying the price and missing out on the skin benefits of true tallow.

Our Rendering Process 

The rendering process is a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of tallow production that directly impacts its skincare benefits. Our method involves a patient 12-hour dry rendering process at low, gentle heat - a traditional technique that preserves the full spectrum of nutrients. This slow, careful approach ensures that the delicate vitamins, fatty acids, and bioactive compounds remain intact and potent.

In contrast, many large-scale manufacturers prioritize speed and appearance over quality, using high-heat processing, water and salt rendering, or chemical extraction methods. While these industrial processes might create a pristine-looking white tallow that looks aesthetically pleasing in the jar, they essentially strip away the very nutrientsthat make tallow beneficial for skin health. Some companies even use bleaching agents and deodorizers to create a "cleaner" appearance and neutral scent, further degrading the natural beneficial properties. This is particularly counterproductive in skincare, where these nutrients are the very reason for using tallow in the first place.

Our single, slow rendering method might take more time and effort, but it ensures that every jar contains the full, potent benefits that nature intended - because beautiful skin needs nutrients, not just pretty packaging.
